Resource information on the Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism and Discrimination

Read the brochure that explains why we need the Coalition and how municipalities, individuals and organizations can become involved.

With funding support from the Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association developed a tool kit to assist municipalities wishing to take action to reduce racism and discrimination and build inclusive and welcoming communities. The Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Toolkit is available online.

The European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy has produced two research papers relating to two of the commitments of the European Coalition of Cities Against Racism:

  • Read the City of Calgary's July 4, 2007 newsletter on the work they are doing on developing their action plan.
  • Read the June 1, 2007 news release and backgrounder announcing the launch of the Canadian Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism and Discrimination.
  • Newsletter 12 of UNESCO Social and Human Sciences (March-May 2006) has a special section (pp 18-25) on UNESCO’s efforts against racism, including the international initiative in which Alberta is involved, the Coalition of Cities Against Racism.
