Commission launches new website

Commission launches new website:

The Commission is pleased to announce the launch of its new website at http://www.albertahumanrights.ab.ca/. Please take a tour of the Commission's new website to find new comprehensive information about rights and responsibilities under human rights law as well as information about the Commission's complaint resolution and education services.

Highlights of the new site include:

. a completely revised section on human rights in the workplace, featuring information specifically for employers, employees and trade unions
. new comprehensive content about the other areas protected under the Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act
. a media room, which is new to the Commission site. The media room includes the Commission's news releases and information bulletins, statistical highlights, schedule of upcoming panel hearings, and protocol for media at panel hearings. 
. new FAQs (frequently asked questions)
. a database of panel and court decisions with an improved search function

Chief commissioner of the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission retires:

After 14 years as chief commissioner of the Human Rights and Citizenship Commission, Charlach Mackintosh is retiring on April 1, 2008. Read the chief commissioner's farewell letter . The recruitment of a new chief commissioner is underway, and the acting chief commissioner will be fulfilling the chief commissioner's duties until the new chief is named.
