COMMISSION RELEASES TWO NEW INFORMATION SHEETS: HUMAN RIGHTS IN TENANCY and HUMAN RIGHTS IN CONDOMINIUMS
(November 2018)
The Commission has developed two new information sheets:
  • Human Rights in Tenancy: outlines how the Alberta Human Rights Act protects Albertans from discrimination in both residential and commercial tenancy. You can read the Human Rights in Tenancy information sheet.
  • Human Rights in Condominiums: outlines how the Alberta Human Rights Act protects Albertans from discrimination in the provision of accommodation, more specifically occupancy of a condominium unit. You can read the Human Rights in Condominiums information sheet.


NEW CHIEF OF THE COMMISSION AND TRIBUNALS APPOINTED
(October 2018)
The Commission is pleased to announce that the Government of Alberta has appointed Mr. Michael Gottheil as Chief of the Commission and Tribunals of the Alberta Human Rights Commission. GOVERNMENT OF ALBERTA SEEKS APPLICATIONS FOR DIRECTOR OF THE ALBERTA HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (October 2018)
The Minister of Justice and Solicitor General is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as the Director for the Alberta Human Rights Commission. The Director is located in Edmonton or Calgary and provides leadership to offices in Edmonton and Calgary. You can view the recruitment posting for the Director’s position. The competition closes on November 18, 2018.

COMMISSION RELEASES 2016-17 ANNUAL REPORT
(March 26, 2018)
The Commission has released its 2016-17 Annual Report. The report provides a summary of results achieved in the three areas of activity undertaken by the Commission: education and engagement, inquiry and complaint resolution services, and complaint adjudication. It also includes information about the legislative framework for the Commission and the Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund, biographies of the Members of the Commission, and listings of tribunal decisions made in 2016-17. Read the report.​
